Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)


The EDSP is a scholarship grant offered to qualified beneficiaries/dependents of OWWA members who intend to enroll in any 4-5 year baccalaureate course. It shall be in the form of financial assistance amounting to P30,000.00 per semester or a maximum of P60,000.00 per school year. Tuition fees shall be paid directly to the school, while the remaining amount shall be released to the scholar upon submission of the grades for the term duration.

General Eligibility Requirements

1. Must be a child of an OWWA member or brother/sister of an unmarried OWWA member.

2. Must be below 21 years old

3. Be a Filipino citizen

4. Be in good health and of good moral character

5. Belong to the upper 20% of the high school graduation class

6. Have not earned units in any post-secondary/undergraduate course; and

7. Not be a recipient of any scholarship award

Procecedure Policies

1. The awardee must maintain the grade requirement of the program for the continuance of the scholarship until completion of the course;

2. The awardee must comply with the terms and conditions of the scholarship agreement to be entered into between himself/herself, parents or legal guardian and OWWA

3. Availments are by voucher system and scholarship must be availed on the specific period indicated in the voucher;

4. Scholarship grant is non-transferable; and

5. Outstanding graduates shall be recognized and awarded accordingly

Documentary Requirements

1. Accomplished Application Form (2 sets)

2. Two (2) copies of 2x2 ID pictures

3. Proof of relationship to OWWA member (Birth Certificate of application of Birth Certificate of both the single OFW and the applicant-dependent duly certified by the Local Civil Registrar or NSO)

4. Proof of OWWA Membership (i.e, Official Receipt of OWWA Contribution/Certification from OWWA Membership Registry Division)

5. Form 137/High School Report Card

6. Health certificate attesting to physical fitness of applicant (Form B)

7. Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by the School Principal/Guidance Counselor (Form C)

8. Certificate that applicant belong to the upper 20% of the total graduation students issued by the School Principal (Form D)

9. Statement of applicant that he/she has not earned units in any post-secondary/undergraduare course(Form E)

10. Sworn Statement that he/she has no pending application for resident immigrant status from any country and does not have dual citizenship signed by parents or legal guardians (Form F)

11. For unmarried OFW, Certificate of NO Marriage from NSO

Selection Criteria

All qualified applicants shall be selected and ranked according to their performance in the qualifying examination scholarship. The Scholars shall be selected and recommended by the OWWA Scholarship Committee. The approval of the Administrator is final and unappealable.
